After more than 10 month of planning and preparation Wild Idaho News published the first issue of its outdoor newspaper on November 21, 2005. The publication covers outdoor news focusing on hunting and fishing as well as the legislature, environment and everything outdoors.
Publisher Douglas J. Schleis said the getting paper to this stage has been a lot of work. Its been more than 10 months since the possibility of starting an outdoor newspaper for Idaho began to be considered. Today, all our hard work has paid off.
The biweekly publication will also cover history, biology, opinion as well as reports from conservation officers from around the state. The paper will focus on getting useful information to anglers and hunters and anyone else that is interested in the outdoors. Writers and reporters from around the state will cover issues ranging from the legislature and public land policy as well as snowmobiling and ATV use. The paper will also report on a variety of outdoor related topics.
Schleis said the paper will not shy away from political or sensitive issues when they are related to outdoor issues.
The paper is an important tool for anyone seeking information about outdoor issues or activities in the state. It includes fishing and hunting reports, club and event information. Reporters and writers from across the state will contribute. If it is related to the outdoors it will be in our paper.
